South Africa Election results Nelson Mandela’s party ANC lost majority for the first time in 30 years

South Africa Election result: This time, there is a huge reversal in the election results of South Africa. This time Nelson Mandela’s party African National Congress (ANC) did not get majority in the parliament. This is happening for the first time in the last 30 years with the party that liberated South Africa from apartheid. After the election held on Wednesday, 99 percent of the votes have been counted, in which the ruling party ANC seems to have got only 40 percent of the votes. This figure is far behind the majority. For the first time since Nelson Mandela was elected 30 years ago in 1994, ANC did not get majority.

The Election Commission of South Africa has not yet released the final results, but the ANC cannot reach the 50 percent voting figure required for majority. Because 99 percent of the votes have been counted. According to the Election Commission, the complete results can be declared by today i.e. Sunday. The opposition parties of the country have called this time’s election result an important success, the opposition said, their country is struggling with severe poverty and inequality.

The ANC is the largest party in South Africa
At present, despite not having a majority in the Parliament, the ANC has emerged as the largest party. The African National Congress will have to take the help of a coalition to form the government again and re-elect President Cyril Ramaphosa. After the national elections, the Parliament of South Africa elects the President. After this result, the dominance of the ANC in South Africa for the last three decades has ended. Apart from this, the path of the ANC seems even more difficult, because so far no opposition party has come forward for a coalition.

South Africa’s main opposition party ‘Democratic Alliance’ has got about 21 percent votes. The country’s former president Jacob Zuma’s ‘MK Party’ has got 14 percent votes in the first election itself, after which it has emerged as the third largest party in the country. Apart from this, ‘Economic Freedom Fighters’ is in fourth place with more than 9 percent votes. Analysts believe that now the round of talks is about to start for forming the government, but this process can be difficult.

Cyril Ramaphosa is being opposed
More than 50 parties have participated in the South African elections, but all the major parties are talking about removing Ramaphosa and forming an alliance with the ANC. MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela said, “We are ready to negotiate with the ANC, but Cyril Ramaphosa should be removed from the post of party leader and president.” Apart from this, Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen said, “We have been saying for 30 years that ending the ANC’s majority is necessary to save South Africa.”
