To connect Vrindavan and Mant area in Mathura, the work of building a pontoon over Yamuna river has been started by the Public Works Department. With the construction of the bridge, the distance from pilgrimage city Vrindavan to Mant will reduce from 14 kilometers to just four kilometers.

The pontoon bridge connecting Vrindavan to Mant area near Kesighat of the city is made safe by the Public Works Department by removing the pontoon bridge during the rainy season due to the amount and velocity of water in Yamuna. It is kept safe from 14th June to 15th October. Before the Belvan fair is held in the month of Phoos, the work of constructing the pontoon bridge is being done at a fast pace by the Public Works Department. Before building 11 pontoon bridges on the Yamuna banks, the base is being prepared by about 10 employees. It will take about 10 days to construct this bridge.

Ghat inspector of Public Works Department, Bachchu Singh said that the contractor has been given seven days time to build the pontoon bridge. The cost of building the bridge is around Rs 3.5 lakh. Due to excess water in Yamuna, the bridge is removed during the rainy season.
