Most of the farmers are not taking interest in the cultivation of traditional crops like paddy, wheat etc. Keeping in view the market demand, farmers are showing more interest in producing such crops, which get better rates. The government also encourages farmers to produce new crops, so that farmers can become economically empowered by producing new crops. The farmer of Jamui also changed his fortunes through hard work and made a business of Rs 24 lakh in just 12 months.
Actually, this farmer planted strawberry crop in his fields and earned a good profit from it. Farmer Pankaj Sah has grown strawberry crop in about 1 acre and has earned Rs 24 lakh from it so far. Not only this, they have received so much demand for strawberries that now they are unable to even fulfill it.
The idea of strawberry cultivation came from television
Farmer Pankaj Sah, resident of Singarpur located in Khaira block area of Jamui district, has planted strawberries in his fields. Pankaj has already been associated with farming. But 4 years ago in the year 2020, he got the idea of cultivating strawberries after watching a video on television. After which he took proper training and has been cultivating strawberries since 2020. Have been cultivating strawberries continuously for the last 4 years. Pankaj supplies strawberries in the wholesale market. There is demand for their strawberries from Uttar Pradesh to Maharashtra. But are not able to fulfill this demand.

Did a business of Rs 24 lakh in 12 months
Pankaj told that this farming lasts for 3 months. Strawberry plants start bearing fruits 45 days after planting and they can be plucked and sold in the markets. This 3 month old crop is sold in the markets several times. He told that he does a business of Rs 6 to 7 lakh in a 3-month season and has so far planted strawberry crop for four seasons. Till now, a business worth Rs 24 lakh has been done from strawberry crop alone. He told that in the coming days, preparations are being made to cultivate strawberries on a larger scale.
