In protest against the hit and run law in Agra, private and contracted bus and truck drivers blocked the road on Monday. Contract buses did not leave from ISBT or any other bus stand in the district. Due to non-operation of private buses, buses associated with travel agencies also did not operate. This created trouble for the passengers. During the strike, private bus drivers created ruckus at many places and tried to stop the buses on the highway. At the same time, truck drivers also parked their trucks on the highway and created a jam.

Contract buses of the Transport Corporation did not run from ISBT, Idgah and Bijli Ghar bus stands since morning. Private buses also remained closed. Due to this, passengers continued to face shortage of buses on Agra to Delhi, Jaipur, Aligarh, Hathras, Etah, Mainpuri, Agra-Lucknow routes. Daily commuters had to face the most trouble on New Year. Even from Noida and Delhi, no buses reached Agra. This increased the problem further.

Assistant Regional Manager Fort Depot RS Chaudhary reached ISBT. He tried to send a corporation bus to Lucknow and Noida, but the drivers did not seem ready. Somehow the bus to Lucknow was sent. Passengers remained troubled at Idgah and Bijli Ghar bus stations also. Many passengers went to Agra Cantt Railway Station.
