Sufism Amir Khusrau inspiring sufi love poetry Chhap Tilak Sab Chinese for Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya

Sufism: Abul Hasan Yamin ud-Din Khusro (1253-1325), whom we all know as Amir Khusro. Love, dedication, sacrifice, love, affection and attachment, you can express love in any of these words. But only Khusro knew the true meaning of Indian culture and Sufiyana love.

With his amazing love and devotion, Khusro won the heart of Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya. Khusro’s love for Hazrat Nizamuddin was heartfelt and respectful.

Technically both were Guru-disciple. But seeing Khusro’s immense love and devotion towards him, Nizamuddin Auliya had said that Khusro’s grave should be made near his grave and that is what happened. Amir Khusro’s tomb was made of red stones in front of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya’s Sufi mausoleum i.e. Dargah in New Delhi.

Amir Khusro was a Sufi poet-singer, musician and Hazrat Nizamuddin was a fan of his couplets and poems. Amir Khusro composed many couplets and poems to express his love for his Peer i.e. Guru. Amir Khusro’s composition ‘Chhap Tilak Sab Chheeni Re…’ is very famous

In this poem, Khusro addresses his guru Nizamuddin Auliya. Although the meaning of this poem is explained in different ways. But it is not possible to understand the true meaning of this poem without knowing the Sufi method of sadhana.

Before knowing the true meaning of this poem, you must know Sufi love, understand Prema Bhakti and Bhaav. If you try to understand its meaning without all these, then it is injustice to this creation.

In Hinduism, just as it is necessary to understand Navdha Bhakti i.e. nine types of devotion to understand devotion to God, similarly, the love devotion of Hazrat and Khusro must be understood. Let us know about the meaning and sentiments of the composition Chhaap Tilak Sab Chheeni Re written in Braj language.

All the marks and Tilak have been snatched away (chhap tilak sab chini)

You have snatched away all the marks and marks on me by meeting my eyes
by making me drink the intoxicant of Prem Bhati
You have made me intoxicated by meeting your eyes
Fair brides, green bangles
Sister has held me tight, meeting my eyes
I will go with full force to your color, Rajwa
You have given me your color by meeting your eyes
Khusroo went to Nizam’s strength
You made me a married woman by meeting your eyes with me
You have snatched away all the marks and marks on me by meeting my eyes

You took away my Tilak (mark) by looking at me. You made me intoxicated with your eyes by giving me the wine of love and devotion. My fair wrists with green bangles are now in the control of your eyes. I am yours and I have your color on me. You have showered it on me with your sight. My life is now yours, O Nizam, you have made me a bride with your sight.
