In Banda district, when her insistence on providing warm clothes was not fulfilled, a girl committed suicide by hanging herself. When her friend living in the neighborhood came to know about this, she also committed suicide by hanging herself. The suicide of two girls in adjacent houses created a stir. Both the girls belong to Scheduled Caste.
Gayatri Devi Verma (19) of Jari village of Dehat Kotwali hanged herself with a rope in the attic of her house at around 5 am on Friday. Younger sister Priyanka called out to her, but when there was no response, she went to the attic and saw that she was hanging.
