Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Rules Changed: There are many government savings schemes being run in the country. Many people invest in them. New rules are going to be implemented regarding the scheme from 1st October. Guidelines have been issued to regularize irregular accounts under the National Service Scheme in Sukanya Yojana. In which if a daughter’s account has been opened by her grandparents, then it also needs to be updated. Let us tell you what will be the process for this.

The account will have to be transferred to the name of the legal guardian

There have been changes in the rules of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. These will come into effect from October 1. That is, the accounts in the scheme which were not opened by the parents or legal guardians. They will now have to be transferred to the name of the parents or legal guardians. That is, if an account has been opened by grandparents. Then the account will have to be transferred to the name of the parents. According to the new guidelines of the scheme, only parents or legal guardians can open and close the account.

These documents will be needed

To transfer the account opened by grandparents in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana to the name of parents, you will need some documents. These include original account passbook, daughter’s birth certificate, certificate of being the legal guardian of the daughter, identification proof of parents, application form, identity card of old account holder and new guardian i.e. grandparents and parents.

To transfer the account under the scheme, you will have to go to the branch where the account was opened. And you will have to take all the documents mentioned along with it. Along with this, you will have to get the guardianship transfer form from the bank or post office. The correct information sought from both the grandparents and the parents will have to be filled in the form. Both will have to sign the guardianship transfer form.

Along with this, you will have to submit the form to the post office or bank along with the relevant documents. After this, the bank or post office employee will review your transfer request and start its verification process. The account will be transferred to the parents’ name and the details will be updated in the account.
