Chhatarpur. Puran Lal Sen, a resident of Gaurihar in the district, teaches children in a government school and works as a haircutter in the evening. Puran Lal Sen who is higher educated but is still doing hair cutting work. Currently, Puran Sen has gone viral on social media by singing the Bundeli folk song written by him. He has written a Bundeli folk song regarding the marriage of the youth of Chhatarpur, which he sang while cutting hair in his shop. After which he became increasingly viral on social media.

I have graduated from Hindi Literature and am also fond of writing. I write Bundeli folk songs myself and while cutting people’s hair, I sing Bundeli folk songs written by me.

I completed BA in 2014 and then did D.Ed in 2016. Along with studies, he also kept doing hair cutting work. However, even after doing BA and D.Ed, I did not get a job. In bad times, this small shop sustained my family. This year was lucky for me, I had filled the guest teacher form. My name appeared in the guest list so I just joined. I am a primary teacher in class-3. Also, my childhood hobby of writing and singing Bundeli folk songs went viral everywhere.

Puran Lal says that he gets a salary of Rs 10,000 every month, which is enough for the expenses of his family. Singing Bundeli folk songs is my hobby which I cannot leave. This hobby will last for the whole life.
Hair cutting is done for less money
Puran tells that as I am a normal person, the rate of hair cutting remains the same. I charge Rs 30 for a haircut and only Rs 20 for a shave. My shop may be small but I do excellent hair cutting, that is why customers keep coming to the shop throughout the day.
