Sunil Mittal says Airtel will increase telecom rates Jio Vi BSNL

Airtel Plans: India’s second largest telecom operator Airtel may soon increase the price of its plans. This has been indicated by none other than the company’s chairman Sunil Mittal himself. Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal had recently said in an interview to NDTV Profit that the company will increase telecom rates in India to keep the market sustainable.

Will the price of Airtel plans increase?

However, Sunil Mittal has not revealed by when the price of Airtel plans will increase, but according to media reports, Airtel may increase the price of its tariff plans after the second half of 2024 i.e. June.

Airtel company aims to increase the average revenue per user (ARPU) from Rs 208 to Rs 300 in the coming months. Let us tell you that Airtel is continuously expanding its 5G service in India. In fact, to expand 5G service in India, the company is spending more than Rs 40,000 to upgrade spectrum and other basic infrastructure. Because of this, the company is now trying to gradually recover its investment.

What will Jio and Vi do?

It is worth noting that there has been no major change in the rates of tariff plans in India’s telecom sector since December 2021. However, it is worth noting that ever since these telecom companies started 4G service in India, the companies have been increasing the price of tariff plans every 2-3 years.

Three companies have the most influence in the Indian telecom sector, which, apart from Airtel, includes Jio and Vodafone-Idea. Although BSNL also has a big role in Indian telecom, but in competition this company is far behind Airtel, Jio and Vodafone.

In such a situation, if Airtel increases the price of its plans, then Jio and Vodafone-Idea companies can also increase the price of their respective tariff plans. We are saying this because these three companies had followed a similar pattern in November 2021 also. At that time too, Airtel had increased the prices of its prepaid and postpaid plans by 20%, and after that in the same month, Jio and Vodafone-Idea also increased the prices of their respective plans.
