Supervisors, engineers and officers kept sleeping in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Sharda City Colony developed illegally in the Tajganj area. Despite repeated demolitions, plots kept getting sold. 20 families also settled down by building houses in them. When construction started on the new plots, the ADA’s bulldozer arrived on Monday. 20 newly built plots were demolished.

Prem Kumar Yadav built Sharda City Colony on Rajrai Road in Tajganj area. The map was not passed by ADA. ADA issued notices, but neither the construction stopped nor the sale of plots was stopped. In October 2022, ADA did the formality in the name of demolition. Still the work did not stop.
20 houses were also built in connivance between the engineer and the supervisor. In June 2023, the ADA team again carried out the formalities of demolition for the second time. Still, illegal construction and land sale did not stop. On Monday, the ADA team arrived for demolition for the third time. Illegally built houses were not demolished. 20 other new under-construction plots and their roads, drains, boundary walls were demolished. Assistant Engineer Mohammad Haroon said that the cost of demolition will be recovered through land revenue.
On the other hand, 144 illegal colonies in the ADA area are demolished only on paper. There have been allegations of illegal construction and sale in connivance with the regional engineer and supervisor. This is the situation when Divisional Commissioner Ritu Maheshwari has repeatedly ordered demolition against illegal colonies.
