Supreme Court of Up official: The Supreme Court has canceled the order of the Allahabad High Court, in which it was made mandatory for the government officials of Uttar Pradesh to get treatment in the government hospital itself. The Supreme Court has said that where someone wants to get treatment, it cannot be forced to be for this. In this order which came in 2018, the High Court had also asked the state government not to pay treatment to the officers undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

The High Court had also said that if a very serious disease can be treated in a private hospital itself, then only the officer should be allowed to treat there. The government should also make a policy that such serious illness can be treated for the common people at government expenditure in a private hospital. Now all these things have been called by the Supreme Court, which the High Court could not decide.

Questions raised on the usefulness of High Court order

This order of the High Court in 2018 was stayed by the Supreme Court in the same year. Now the ban has been made permanent. The bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna also questioned the utility of the High Court order. The bench said that if the big officials start reaching government hospitals for treatment, then they will probably start getting VIP treatment. This will cause problems to the poor and disadvantaged people coming to the hospital.
