Pawan Kheda Objectionable Remark On PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Congress leader Pawan Kheda has suffered a major setback in the matter of allegedly making objectionable remarks about his father. The Supreme Court has refused to cancel the FIR and criminal action registered against Kheda. On Thursday (January 4), the bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice Sandeep Mehta in the Supreme Court said that it is not inclined to interfere with the High Court order. The bench said, ‘Sorry, we have no intention.’

A case was registered against Kheda for making wrong comments on PM Modi. The Congress leader had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to cancel it, but after the hearing on Thursday (January 4), the court made it clear that the FIR will not be cancelled. A bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice Sandeep Mehta heard Kheda’s petition on Thursday. The Supreme Court said that you will have to face trial in the lower court. Earlier this hearing was to be held on October 13.

There was disappointment even from the High Court

Earlier, Allahabad High Court had rejected Kheda’s plea to quash the criminal case. Actually, Pawan Kheda had challenged the decision of Allahabad High Court in the Supreme Court. Allahabad High Court had refused to cancel the FIR registered against Pawan Kheda. Later, Kheda filed a petition in the Supreme Court to get the case quashed. The court had sought a reply from the UP government on this.

“Can’t escape by apologizing”

Opposing Kheda’s petition, the UP government told the court that the police has filed a charge sheet in the lower court. Senior lawyer Salman Khurshid, appearing for Kheda, asked the court to postpone the hearing, but the bench of Justice BR Gavai and Sandeep Mehta refused. The judges said that you cannot erase your crime by apologizing. You face trial in the lower court.

A case was registered against Pawan Kheda in Hazratganj police station for making objectionable remarks on PM Modi. Pawan Kheda had made objectionable remarks during the press conference in Mumbai on 17 February 2023. FIR in Uttar Pradesh and Assam
On March 20, 2023, in the case of Congress leader Pawan Kheda, the Supreme Court had clubbed three FIRs into one over his alleged objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Modi. Apart from adding two FIRs lodged against Kheda, one in Assam and one in Uttar Pradesh, the court had also extended the period of interim bail. On the instructions of the Supreme Court, the case was transferred to Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow.

Kheda was arrested, is out on bail

Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda was arrested from Delhi Airport on 23 February 2023. He was removed from the plane bound for Raipur. Amidst the dramatic developments, Kheda also got interim bail from the Supreme Court on the same day, which has been extended from time to time. After interim bail from the Supreme Court, Kheda also got bail from Lucknow Court. Kheda has tendered an unconditional apology in the court for the alleged remarks. Despite this, the Supreme Court said that despite repeated apologies, action cannot be avoided.
