SC On Delhi Pollution: Hearing is going on in the Supreme Court regarding the air pollution issue in Delhi-NCR. The Central Government panel Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), which monitors air quality in Delhi, has reprimanded the Flying Squad. The Supreme Court said, “A meeting of CAQM (Air Quality Management Commission) was held on August 29. There was no discussion on stubble burning. Three years ago, an order was given to prosecute the polluters. You are soft towards them till date.” Yes. Why so?”
Supreme Court asked- why action was not taken
On this, Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati said that strictness was not taken because pollution is continuously declining. After this the judge asked, “You are so serious that you hold meetings 3-4 times a year. You are only telling targets, not getting results. This year, 129 incidents of stubble burning were reported. You did not take action against even one.” of.”
During the hearing, the Supreme Court asked the lawyer of the Punjab government, “You have reported 129 incidents this year. You have not taken any action. You may have political compulsions, but not taking any action is disappointing. You are not even sure that Farmers are able to use machines.”
Punjab asked why should Delhi give subsidy?
In response to this, Punjab’s lawyer said, “Small farmers face problems. We have written a letter to them to get subsidy of Rs 1200 crore from Delhi.” On this the Supreme Court judge said why should Delhi give subsidy to Punjab? On this, Punjab’s lawyer said, “Because pollution is in Delhi. If the Central Government gives approval, then we can get money from the Delhi Government.”
In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had said that there is a need to ensure the use of alternative equipment for burning stubble at the grassroots level. The court had directed the panel to file a better compliance report.
