Supreme Court On NEET-UG Paper Leak: The Supreme Court issued an interim order after hearing the NEET paper leak case on Thursday (July 18). The Supreme Court said that the marks of the students appearing in the exam should be made public and care should be taken to ensure that the identity of any student is not revealed.
The Supreme Court has ordered the National Testing Agency to make the exam results public on the website by Saturday (20 July 2024). The Supreme Court said that making the numbers public will bring transparency and students will be able to know what kind of results have come from which center.
What did the Supreme Court say in the interim order?
The bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud also talked about providing information about the exam centers. Along with ordering NTA to publish the results on its website, it was also said that the results should be declared separately according to the city and center.
The Supreme Court said in a strict tone, put the result on the portal by 12 noon on Saturday and the entire result should be made public. On this matter, CJI DY Chandrachud said, ‘There is no doubt that the paper has been leaked in Hazaribagh and Patna, now we have to see on what scale it happened.’ Solicitor General said, ‘Counselling can start from July 24 and we will hear before that.’
When will the next hearing be?
The next hearing on the petitions alleging paper leak and irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam will be held in the Supreme Court on July 22. It is reported that the Supreme Court has also sought an investigation report on the controversial NEET-UG case. Let us tell you that a bench of three judges is hearing this matter. The three-judge bench includes CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra.
Hearing on more than 40 petitions
More than 40 petitions have been filed in the top court on the NEET-UG issue, including one petition from the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to reports, the NTA had appealed to transfer the cases filed against it in various high courts to the Supreme Court. The controversy started after 67 toppers emerged in the NEET exam held on May 5, 2024.
What is the demand of the petitioners?
In the petitions filed in the Supreme Court, it has been demanded that the NEET exam be cancelled and it should be conducted afresh. It has also been said that an investigation should be conducted into the irregularities in the exam.
