Sushmita Sen herself had once revealed that she had withdrawn her Miss India form because of Aishwarya Rai. In an episode of the talk show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, Sushmita Sen talked about her Miss India journey. He had told that when he came to know that Aishwarya was taking part in this Miss India competition, he had already accepted defeat.
Form was withdrawn due to fear of Aishwarya Rai
Miss India 1994 had said- ‘I came to know that this time Aishwarya is also participating. So I said, please return my form also. I am not going. I immediately took back my form saying that she is very beautiful. She is very beautiful and the rest of the world knows her. I didn’t want to go with him, so I came home and talked to my mother. Sushmita had told that her mother was very angry when her form was withdrawn.
Submitted the form again on mother’s insistence
Sushmita had told that she had agreed to fill the form again on her mother’s insistence and motivation. His mother had said- ‘What happened that you gave up even before trying? Okay, let her win and if you think she is the most beautiful girl in the world then don’t lose to her. And what is the use of losing to someone else? Go and give your best shot.
Aishwarya came first runner up, Sushmita started crying
Sushmita says- ‘Then the next day they reached with the form saying take last minute entry. Then I still remember what happened in Goa after that. Ash had won all the prelims, so I had assumed that forget it, nothing was going to happen. Then when Aishwarya Rai was called the first runner up, I was about to cry on the stage because I regret that I did not even come as the first runner up.
