In fact, there came a time in the life of Swami Vivekananda when, after the death of his father, his family had to face financial crisis. In such a situation, he asked his Guru Ramakrishna Paramhansa to pray to God that his financial condition improves.
Then Ramakrishna Paramhansa said that he himself should tell his problem to God and also pray for it. On the advice of his Guru, Swami Vivekananda went to the temple and prayed to God for wisdom and renunciation. From this day onwards, Swami Vivekananda became interested in religion and spirituality and got attracted towards an ascetic life. After this, renunciation and sainthood became for him the path of freedom from the worries of the world.
Regarding Hindu religion, Swami Vivekananda said that the message of this religion is to unite the entire humanity in one thread instead of dividing people into different religions and sects. Lord Krishna also gives the same message in Geeta that, ‘The light reaching us through different glasses is the same.’
