Jammu-Kashmir: The DM of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar district ordered the sealing of properties of late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and members of his banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI). In his order, while mentioning the report of the State Investigation Agency, the DM has asked to seal the property of all the members of this organization.
The District Magistrate of Srinagar said in his order on Monday (December 19) that the property of the members of this organization should be sealed. Along with giving information, he said that he has sealed two residential buildings of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, a prominent member of JEI and separatist leader.
What did the DM of the district say?
The DM of the district told that apart from this he has sealed two properties of the district president of this organization in Khushipora Shalateng. He told that this action has been taken on this organization on the basis of FIR and investigation of the State Investigation Agency. The State Investigation Agency had written a letter to the District Magistrate requesting to seal the three properties.
Decision taken after the report of the Revenue Department
The DM of the district, in his order issued on December 19, said that the properties he sealed were done only after getting the green signal from the revenue department. He said in his order that before sealing the properties, he sought a report from the Tehsildar of that area whether the properties being sealed belonged to the members of the banned organisation.

What instructions were given in the order?
The DM said in his written order that after going through all the documents, records and other related documents, I, District Magistrate Srinagar, am satisfied that the property of the members of this organization can be legally sealed. In the order, the DM has asked his subordinates to send their reports to the concerned authorities after seizing the properties.
