Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 Day 1: Syeda Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 has started from today (16 October). On the very first day of the domestic tournament played in T20 format, many star players showed excellent performance. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played for Maharashtra on the first day, played an important role in helping the team win by playing a smashing inning of 80 runs. Apart from this, Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane and Vidarbha’s young wicketkeeper batsman Jitesh Sharma played stormy innings while remaining unbeaten.
Gaikwad led Maharashtra to victory
For Maharashtra, which was chasing the target of 159 runs against Bengal, Gaikwad batted at a strike rate of 205 in 40 balls and played a brilliant inning of 82 runs, which included 9 fours and 5 sixes. Due to rain, the match was played for 18 overs, in which Mumbai won by 8 wickets under Duckworth-Lewis rule.
Jitesh Sharma showed a stormy game
Vidarbha’s wicketkeeper batsman Jitesh Sharma batted at a staggering strike rate of 283.33. Batting at number five, he scored unbeaten 51* runs in 18 balls, which included 3 fours and 5 sixes. In the match played against Uttarakhand, Vidarbha team, chasing the target of 142 runs, won in 11.2 overs. Due to rain the match was played for 13 overs.
