An alert has been issued for Indian banks. In which it has been said that the license of those eye banks which are not able to deposit at least 100 corneas in a year will be cancelled. The National Organ and Tissues Transplant Organization (NOTTO) has advised state officials to prepare an audit of the data and performance of each eye bank. AIIMS National Eye Bank received 2000 corneas in one year
The National Eye Bank (NEB) of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences (RP Centre), Delhi AIIMS on Tuesday launched a campaign to raise awareness about eye donation to fight corneal blindness. Every year, from the last week of August to 2 September, all ophthalmologists of AIIMS run awareness campaigns on eye donation.
