In a massive crackdown on spam calls and unregistered tele-marketing companies, 2.75 lakh telephone numbers have been disconnected and services of 50 firms have been suspended. This action has been taken under the recent tough stance adopted by telecom regulator TRAI. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had asked telecom companies to blacklist unregistered telemarketing firms and block their associated numbers.
