Cyclone Remal has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and reached close to the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh by around 8.30 pm on Sunday (May 26). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted winds of 110-120 kmph with gusts up to 135 kmph. Very heavy rains have been predicted in the coastal areas of West Bengal, while heavy to very heavy rains will occur in Kolkata and its surrounding areas.
