Tarntaran Bomb Blast: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested wanted accused Bikramjit Singh, the mastermind of the Tarn Taran attack, after his extradition from Austria. Bikramjit Singh, also known by different aliases like Bikkar Panjwar and Bikkar Baba, is alleged to have formed a terror network along with his close associates to carry out terror attacks in Punjab.
The NIA said, after his extradition, Bikramjit Singh was arrested by the Competent Authority of Linz, Austria in coordination with the Interpol officials.
Bikramjit, along with his close associates, had allegedly formed a terrorist gang to carry out terror attacks in Punjab. He was absconding in the NIA case registered against him in 2019. NIA had sent a team to Austria to bring him back to India.

NI’s special court had issued a red corner notice
On the basis of non-bailable warrant issued by NIA Special Court, Mohali and subsequent Red Corner Notice, absconding accused Bikramjit Singh was taken into custody on March 22, 2021 in Linz, Austria. “After completion of legal proceedings, the Linz Regional Court, Australia extradited the arrested accused Bikramjit Singh,” the NIA said in a statement.
Investigation had revealed that Bikramjit Singh not only instigated the co-accused and others to commit terrorist activities but also imparted training in making and using Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
“During various processions and agitations, Bikramjit Singh carried bombs and instigated other participants to attack government agencies to spread terror among the population at large,” the NIA said. The counter-terrorism agency further said that Bikramjit Singh was the main conspirator in the conspiracy to target Dera Muradpura.
