Taste of Morena: Exactly the opposite of Indori’s Poha of Chambal, why so many chillies and spices are used in MP’s hottest Poha?

Report- Akash Gaur

Morena. Indore is only a name, if Poha is to be eaten then come to Morena… This claim is not ours but of the fans of a famous Poha shop in Morena. If you are familiar with Indori Poha, then you would know that mild sour sweet taste, neither too much chili nor spice, is the identity of Indori Poha. But ‘Chachu ka Poha’ in Morena is just opposite to the taste of Poha in Indore. Here people say that if there is poha, it should be like at Chachu’s place, otherwise what kind of poha!

The reason for this pungent taste is the water here. Local people say from experience that if you are drinking water from Chambal, it is necessary to eat spicy spices to keep your digestion right. That’s why like the rest of the recipe, Poha is also made spicy here. If you also want to taste this poha of Morena, then reach the famous shop ‘Chachu Poha Center’ of Morena. At this shop in Jeevajiganj, from 7 am to 10 am, you will find Poha here and a crowd of its lovers.

This is how poha is made for hundreds of people everyday

Shop operator Chambal Madel told that at 4 in the morning poha is slightly soaked in water. Due to the high quantity of poha, we soak them in bamboo sticks, the water drains from the bottom of the stick and the poha swells, but does not melt. After this, mix turmeric, a little sugar and salt in it and prepare it. Green chillies and peanuts are fried in oil to put on top.

Before serving this poha on a plate, water is kept in a big pot to boil, a big plate is placed on top of the pot. Poha keeps getting hot on the steam. People eat it with great enthusiasm by putting salt, lemon, coriander, peanuts, fried chilies, spices etc. in a plate. Madel told that more than 1000 students come to the shop every day. More than 20 kg Poha is sold daily.
