Bhagat Ji Cholewale’s shop located on Road No. 2 of Alwar city has been running since the time of independence. People like chickpeas more than the kulchas of this shop. Today the third generation of Bhagat Ji Cholewale is managing this shop. There would hardly be any person in the city who would not have tasted the chickpeas from this shop.

Bharat, the owner of Bhagat ji’s shop, told that this shop was started by my grandfather about 76 years ago. After that this shop was taken over by my father and today this shop was started by my grandfather and is being managed by me to maintain the name of my grandfather. Spicy chickpeas are available in our shop right from the beginning, which are liked a lot by the people. Every day there is a crowd of tourists coming to visit Alwar along with the city residents.

Spicy in taste, still feels crowded
Bharat told that the way grandfather used to make chickpeas 76 years ago, chickpeas are being made in the same way even today. There is no compromise on quality here. That is why even today people come to our place and taste this chickpea and also take it home. Although our chickpeas are definitely spicy in taste. The reason for this is that it is made by adding some of our special spices along with chutney, tomato, coriander, green chillies, due to which people find it spicy and has a different taste. Let us tell you that the price of one plate of Bhagat ji’s chickpea is Rs 40.

what time does the shop open
Bharat told that our shop starts at 12:30 and continues till 7 in the evening. The entire process before this takes four to five hours, which we complete comfortably. After this, a pot of chickpeas is prepared and kept in a big plate. Then, as per the demand of the people, chickpeas are scraped from the pot and made spicy by adding chilli spices to it.
