Tax on beer why is liquor expensive in UP and cheap in Haryana is the reason just tax or something else

The price of liquor or beer is different in different states of India. If the price of a full bottle in one state is 1500, then it is possible that in another state the same ML bottle of the same brand can be found for 1200 or 1000 rupees. The same formula applies to beer as well. Now in such a situation, it is natural for people to have this question in their minds that in the states where liquor or beer is available cheap, is there any difference in the quality and taste of liquor or beer there as compared to other states. Let us tell you about this in detail.

First know the tax according to the states

The Government of India and the state governments earn a lot of money from the tax on liquor. In the financial year 2020-21, the country earned about 1 lakh 75 thousand rupees from excise duty. The state that earned the most in this was Uttar Pradesh. Now talking about tax, according to the Hindustan Times report, Karnataka has the highest tax on liquor in the country. Here, 83 percent tax is levied on liquor.

Whereas, if we talk about Haryana, here only 47 percent tax is levied on liquor. Apart from this, if we talk about Uttar Pradesh, here 66 percent tax is levied on liquor. On the other hand, 62 percent tax is levied on liquor in Delhi. This is the reason why liquor is available cheaper in Delhi and Haryana than in UP. Let us now know whether the quality of liquor also decreases due to the low price.

Is the quality of the liquor also compromised?

This question remains in the minds of many people that if liquor is available cheaper in Haryana and Delhi than in UP, then the quality of liquor or beer there must be bad. However, this is not the case at all. In fact, many times liquor or beer is prepared from the same distillery plant. That is, the one from where UP is made, it is possible that Delhi and Haryana are also made there. Just while sending them to different states, their price is changed according to the tax there.

In simple words, the liquor or beer inside the bottle will be of the same quality in every state. Yes, it is true that if the liquor or beer is prepared from different distillery plants, then there can be a slight difference in its taste. But the standard of quality is the same for every distillery plant of any company.
