Teacher Recruitment Scam Former West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee Extended Judicial Custody Till 7 February


West Bengal SSC Scam: A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Kolkata on Saturday (January 7) extended the judicial custody of former West Bengal Education Minister and Trinamool Congress general secretary Partha Chatterjee till February 7. Partha Chatterjee is in jail in connection with the teacher recruitment scam in the state. The court also ordered to extend the judicial custody of his close aide and co-accused Arpita Mukherjee. Surprisingly, neither of the two, while appearing for the virtual hearing, appealed for bail, but only sought better treatment facilities in judicial custody.

Partha Chatterjee’s counsel Sukanya Bhattacharya informed the court that her client was not getting adequate medical facilities and adequate arrangements should be made in this regard. Chatterjee himself informed the court that his present health condition is unstable. Chatterjee told the judge that there was no medical facility in the jail. I need proper medical attention, tests and medicines. But there is no such system in the jail. i am sick please do something

Arpita appealed to the jail authorities

On the other hand, Arpita Mukherjee said that despite appealing to the jail authorities, she is not getting adequate medical facilities. He said, I am not getting proper medicines as per the requirement. I am feeling extremely uncomfortable in the ward allotted to me. CBI has registered a case against former minister Partha Chatterjee in the SSC recruitment scam in Bengal. In this case, ED’s entry was done because of money transaction. In this case, Arpita’s places close to Perth were also raided. More than 49 crore cash was recovered from Arpita’s hideouts. Gold and jewelery were also recovered from Arpita’s hideouts.

What are the allegations against Partha Chatterjee?

There is an allegation against Partha Chatterjee, a West Bengal minister and TMC leader, that he took crores of rupees for teacher recruitment. It is alleged that those who gave lakhs of rupees were passed in this examination. There are also allegations of changing OMR sheets. This recruitment process started in 2016, after which many candidates challenged the results. The matter reached the High Court and then the investigation of the matter started. The High Court had handed over this case to the CBI. At that time Partha Chatterjee was the Education Minister of West Bengal.
