Fake call center busted: The Telangana Cyber ​​Security Bureau (TGCSB) has busted a gang that was cheating Americans and other foreigners with the help of a fake call center in High-Tech City, Hyderabad. The police arrested a total of 63 cyber criminals, including 22 women, while bursting the gang. The arrested people include most of the youth and women from the northeastern states.

The accused suspects used to run a fake call center called ‘Exito Solutions’ and target Peepal users in America. He used to send fishing email using latest software like Eyebeam and X-Lite and scared people by claiming that PayPal accounts were hacked or unauthorized transactions. In this way, bank data of Peepal users were collected and money was stolen from their accounts.

Major suspect and international relations

The main accused of this fraud racket is Chanda Manaswini of Gujarat, who runs a call center in Hyderabad. Along with him, people like Kavan Patel, Rahul alias Prateek and Jadhu Bhai were also involved in this fraud. He targeted users in the US using data hacked from PayPal.

Modus operandi

The accused used to present themselves as the customer service representatives of Pepal, working in the fake call center of Exito Solutions, so that the victims could be cheated. Kavan Patel Rupesh Kumar, aka Jadoo/Jaddish Bhai, resident of Gujarat have been identified as the mastermind behind this cyber fraud operation. He was operating this racket with his elder brother, Vicky, who lives in Dubai and with Azad. These individuals were responsible for providing stolen customer data from Peepal and arranging mule bank accounts in the United States, which were used to obtain money received from fraud. He converted illegal money into crypto currency.

Investigations have revealed that the entire network was under the control of Jadal Bhai and Rahul, Prateek, who was under the supervision of Chanda Manswani, Managing Director of Exito Solutions, resident of Hyderabad. The organization team worked in coordination with team leaders Sanju, James, and Praveen, who was expert in persuading the victims to pay fraud.

These individuals were recruited using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, where they were promised Rs 30,000 to work in “call center”. However, after being admitted, he was trained in fraud techniques for cyber fraud.

Search and seizure

During the search of TGCSB, 63 laptops, 52 mobile phones and 27 ID cards were seized from the accused. This call center was used to cheat foreigners and steal money from their bank accounts. While TGCSB has advised the public to be vigilant and avoid being victims of such cyber scams, further investigation is going on to identify other suspects.
