Telecommunication department suspends more than 24 thousand mobile connections, know the reason

In view of this, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has taken a big step to stop this. In fact, the Department of Telecommunications has suspended 24,228 mobile connections. According to the Department of Telecommunications, these mobile connections were found to be linked to 42 Unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) and they are also suspected of being involved in repeated fraud.

The Department of Telecommunications has directed telecom service providers to block these IMEI numbers on an all India basis. Cyber ​​fraudsters were allegedly using these mobile numbers for cyber crime and other fraudulent activities.

Complaints are being registered continuously on Chakshu portal

People can register complaints of online fraud on the Chakshu portal created by the government. In recent times, there has been an increase in complaints of fraud on the Chakshu portal. In view of this, the Department of Telecommunications has taken this step to eliminate fraud. Earlier, PIB has also alerted people about fraud messages, where hackers steal people’s bank details in the name of KYC process.

What is IMEI number?

The full form of IMEI is International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is a unique code of 15 digits. IMEI identifies the mobile phone. Apart from this, it helps in getting information related to any phone number and network. In simple language, IMEI number is called the digital fingerprint of the phone. With its help, you can also track a lost or stolen phone. With the IMEI number, you get information like the phone model, place of manufacture, and serial number.
