Karachi Deputy Superintendent of Police Tariq Islam has forbidden any policeman from going alone on official duty on the day of Muharram.

Tariq Islam has issued information saying that government officials can be targeted in Karachi during Muharram. Officials have been asked to avoid police vans during duty and to wear uniforms and shoes after work is over.

Deployment of security forces in these areas

Before this notification, on Monday, the government had approved the deployment of armed forces across the country to ensure security during Muharram. The government had deployed soldiers in Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad to maintain law and order by the authorities. The Pakistan government has deployed army personnel to ensure peace in the country under Article 245.

Pakistan Home Ministry says that the deployment of the army will be based on the ground situation and the states will have the right to determine the deployment locations. Let us tell you that earlier the Punjab government of Pakistan had asked the Home Ministry to suspend social media platforms from 6 to 11 July during Muharram.

502 places are sensitive

According to Pakistani media reports, many security measures are being taken in the country. It has been told that there are 502 such places in Pakistan which are sensitive and army and rangers personnel have been deployed at these places. This festival holds a lot of importance for Shia Muslims. In such a situation, communal violence has been taking place repeatedly between the Sunni and Shia communities in the country.
