According to the report of Daily Star, Ilha da Queimada Grande is called Snake Island. Poisonous viper snakes live here, that too in numbers ranging from 2000 to 4000. This place is 90 miles away from Sao Paulo Coast in Brazil, where even setting foot is illegal. The most dangerous species of viper snake, Lenshead Vipers, live here, which are not found anywhere else except here. The specialty of their poison is that it can melt human flesh and can kill a healthy person within just an hour.

Elha da Queimada Grande means the island of terrible fire. This name has been given to it because earlier people used to go here and light fire to drive away snakes. There used to be a lighthouse here earlier. People used to live here from 1909 to 1920 but now no one lives here. However, some people go here to catch snakes illegally, which cost more than Rs 24 lakh 31 thousand in the black market.
