Hyderabad, one of the busiest metros of the country, is no longer the joint capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from today, i.e. Sunday. It is worth mentioning that at the time of division of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Hyderabad was made the joint capital of both the states for 10 years. Telangana came into existence on 2 June 2014. According to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014, Hyderabad will be the capital of Telangana only from 2 June. Now the question is what will be the capital of Andhra Pradesh? Know what all is changing under these rules.
Hyderabad
Hyderabad is one of the busiest cities in India. It is worth noting that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act stated that from the appointed date (June 2), Hyderabad in the existing Andhra Pradesh state will be the joint capital of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh State for a period of 10 years. This Act stated that after the expiry of the period specified in sub-section (1), Hyderabad will be the capital of Telangana State and there will be a new capital for Andhra Pradesh State. Today, i.e. on June 2, the period of 10 years has been completed. After which Hyderabad is now the capital of Telangana only. The capital of Andhra Pradesh will be some other city, regarding which no decision has been taken yet.
Formation of Telangana
It is worth noting that the state of Telangana was formed on June 2, 2014 after the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill was passed in Parliament in February 2014. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had last month asked officials to complete the task of taking possession of buildings like the Government Guest House Lake View in Hyderabad after June 2, which were given to Andhra Pradesh for a period of 10 years.
Andhra Pradesh
Let us tell you that Andhra Pradesh does not have a permanent capital yet. The fight over Amaravati and Visakhapatnam is still going on in the courts. Even after ten years of division, many issues like division of assets between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are unresolved.
Capital of Andhra Pradesh?
No name has been revealed yet for the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that if he remains in power, Visakhapatnam will be the administrative capital, while Amaravati will be the seat of the legislature. Apart from this, Kurnool will be the judicial capital. Andhra Pradesh stopped using Hyderabad as the capital soon after the division in 2014 and kept only a few buildings in the city.
