Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has expressed concern over the brutality against women in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh and Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh. He posted on Instagram and wrote, the brutality against women in Ujjain and Siddharthnagar is a blot on humanity. The ever-increasing crimes against women and the attitude of the police administration towards the victim and her family are proof of the cruelty of the system and are a matter of serious concern for the country.
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said, "Publicity-centric governments have given birth to an insensitive system to create a false image of themselves, the biggest victims of which are women. The time has come that serious efforts should be made towards the moral upliftment of the society for women’s safety – strict steps should be taken at every level – social, political and administrative. A better citizen gives birth to a better system and a better system creates a better society."
A case of rape of a woman collecting junk in Agar Naka area of Ujjain by forcibly making her drink alcohol came to light. Police officials claim that when the matter came to light after the video went viral, the police themselves called the victim woman to the police station and registered a case. According to the police, this incident happened on Wednesday (September 4, 2024) and the accused in this case has been caught.
