The first liquor shop will open in Saudi Arabia, but only these people will be able to benefit.

The first liquor shop is going to open in Saudi Arabia, but the condition will be that it will be sold only to non-Muslim diplomats. In fact, millions of outsiders live in Saudi Arabia and most of them are Muslim people from Asia and Egypt. In such a situation, this store is being opened for a select group of non-Muslim immigrants. This will be the first time in 70 years that alcohol will be sold in Saudi Arabia. The customers of this liquor shop being opened in Riyadh will be limited diplomatic staff.

Why and since when is alcohol banned in Saudi Arabia?
Alcohol has been banned in Saudi Arabia since 1952. In fact, at that time, King Abdul Aziz’s son had shot and killed a British diplomat while under the influence of alcohol. After which the decision to ban liquor was taken.

Why is the liquor shop being opened?
Saudi officials say that this shop will work to stop the illegal trade of liquor. According to Reuters report, this liquor shop will open in a few weeks. However, there are some rules regarding this shop. For example, a diplomat who wants to buy liquor will first have to register and then he will be given clearance from the government.

People below 21 years of age will not be able to come.
People below 21 years of age will not be allowed to enter the liquor shop. Also, appropriate clothes will have to be worn inside the store. Apart from this, there is a limit for purchasing liquor in a month. That means a diplomat can consume alcohol only according to that limit in a month. However, it is being said that these rules will not be strict.
