The idol of Lord Ganesha was growing every day, then one day a nail was hit; then people were surprised to see the miracle The idol of Lord Ganesha used to grow every day then one day the nail was hit and Bappa calmed down

Sea. There are many ancient temples of gods and goddesses in Sagar, which are the center of people’s faith, but if we talk about the first revered Lord Shri Ganesha, then the name of Shivaji Kalani ancient Ashtavinayak Ganesh temple located at Ganesh Ghat in Purvaio comes first. It is said that hundreds of years ago, the idol of Lord Shri Ganesha was found during excavation on the banks of Lakha Banjara lake (pond). The special thing is that Lord Ganesha is seated along with Hanuman ji and Riddhi-Siddhi in the same stone. After the Ganesha idol was found, the ghat of this pond was named Ganesh Ghat.

The temple was built on the lines of Siddhivinayak of Mumbai
Pandit Govind Rao Aathle of the temple tells that the height of the self-manifested idol found on the banks of Lakha Banjara lake kept increasing. Seeing the height of the idol increasing, Shankaracharyas chanted mantras and hammered a nail on the head of Lord Ganesha, due to which his height stopped increasing. This octagonal temple is on the lines of Siddhivinayak of Mumbai.

Maratha ruler Govind Pant Bundele built it
There are some disagreements about the construction of the temple. According to well-known historian Dr. Rajneesh Jain, the temple was built around 1735 by Maratha ruler Govind Pant Bundele. According to him, the Sanskrit inscriptions of the temple confirm this. Peshwa Bajirao Ballal, who came to protect Bundelkhand, sent his favorite warrior Govind Pant to Sagar in 1733 with the Bundela title to handle the third part of the state after the death of Maharaja Chhatrasal. He first built this temple, then reconstructed the Sagar fort and ramparts. One of the two Sati pillars installed in the temple is also a witness to the sati of Govind Pant’s wife Bai Sahib.

Installation of Ganesha idol in 1638
According to Pujari Aathe, the idol of Lord Ganesha was found in the year 1603 during excavations on the banks of the lake. Lord Ganesha was seated along with Hanuman ji and Riddhi-Siddhi in the same rock. After this, the construction of the temple started, which was completed in the year 1638 after 35 years. The temple was built by people of 11 Maharashtrian communities of Maratha, Bhosale, Shinde and Sagar. After this, the idol was installed in the temple in the year 1640.
