Naam Tamilar Party activists started a protest against its producer, actor and director Seeman at Chennai Anna Nagar Arch near Skywalk Mall. In view of this, the theater honors have banned the release of this film across the state, citing the legal system.

Congress and CPI(M) criticized the film
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Congress have criticized the makers of the film and said that they are furthering the propaganda of the Sangh Parivar. The state is being made the center of religious extremism by raising the slogan of ‘Love Jihad’. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also accused the Sangh Parivar of trying to destroy religious harmony in the state by “sowing poisonous seeds of communalism”. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called the Kerala CM and the ruling CPI(M)’s stand regarding the film as “double standards”.
