In a unique discovery, scientists have discovered a very huge and unusually shaped volcano on Mars which is much bigger than Everest. But the surprising thing is that it was not recognizable yet. This volcano, located near the equator of Mars, is not higher than the surrounding land and is not clearly identified. But its discovery may provide a direction to the search for water and ice on Mars.
It is being said about this volcano that it was not easily visible for decades and recently Mars Institute Chairman Dr. Pascal Lee made this discovery at the 55th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference held in Woodlands, Texas, USA. The announcement has created a sensation in the science world.
This volcano was discovered by Saurabh Shubham, a PhD student of Geology at Lee and Maryland University. This volcano has been found in the Noctis Labyrinthus region of Mars, which is located in a network of deep caves near the equator of Mars and scientists were not able to see it clearly for a long time even after having many satellites. .

Lee says that it was not visible because it was not elevated above the surrounding terrain. Not only this, it has suffered a lot of erosion and even after seeing it, it is very difficult to recognize it. It is believed that if this identification is successful then it is sure to have a deep impact on the geological understanding of Mars.
Lee says that the discovery of the volcano will provide direction to future expeditions to search for water, ice and life. In a study done last year on the same site, it was said that Noctis Labyrinthus Isaka is filled with huge glaciers which have salt deposits on them.
After this, researchers examined the data collected by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to investigate frozen water under the salt. The special thing about this volcano is that its lava is flowing near the glacier and it has not even been completely oxidized. Signs show that this lava is fresh, which makes it clear that a volcano must be active nearby.
