Mohit Sharma/Karauli, The day by day rising prices of garlic has increased the concern of the common man. On the one hand, the skyrocketing prices of garlic last year have made the farmers rich, while on the other hand, the expensive prices of this garlic have broken the back of the poor people. In the year 2023, due to the skyrocketing price of garlic throughout the year, the kitchen has also gone haywire with the taste deteriorating. Not only this, many people have even forgotten to use it in vegetables due to its high prices and it has become difficult for a poor person to even touch garlic.

Let us tell you that the price of garlic, which had increased from ₹ 100 to ₹ 300 per kg, has reached ₹ 400 per kg in the last two-three days. Due to which the taste of the common man’s kitchen has become even more spoiled. Due to its increasing prices and decreasing demand in the markets, even wholesalers are preferring to buy it in very small quantities. Garlic wholesaler Manoj Kumar Gupta says that before the year 2023, the prices of garlic were very low. The production was so much that no one wanted to buy garlic even for ₹ 5 kg. This is the reason that this time farmers have reduced its production due to which the prices of garlic have remained high throughout the last year.

Impact on people’s pockets
First the price of garlic was ₹ 100 kg, then ₹ 200 kg, then it increased to ₹ 300 kg and now this garlic has reached ₹ 400 kg in the last two-three days. However, traders say that in the coming time its prices will reduce with the arrival of the new crop. At present, the wholesale price of garlic in Karauli vegetable market is ₹ 300 per kg and the retail price is ₹ 400 per kg.
