Singhabad Railway Station

This is the last railway station of India, whose name is Singhabad. Singhabad falls in Habibpur area of Malda district of West Bengal. By the way, there is nothing special about it, just this is the last frontier railway station of India, which is adjacent to the border of Bangladesh. This station belongs to the British era. It is the same today as the British had left it then. It is located and is adjacent to the border of Bangladesh.

Singhabad railway station is so close to Bangladesh that people go for a few kilometers to visit Bangladesh on foot. By the way, very few people are seen at this small railway station. This railway station is used for transit of goods trains. Two passenger trains named Maitree Express pass through here.

deserted after independence

After independence, when the country was divided, the work on this station was stopped. Since then this station had become deserted. Goods trains started on this route in the year 1978. Then again the sound of whistles started echoing here. Earlier, these vehicles used to travel only from India to Bangladesh, but after amendment in the old agreement in November 2011, Nepal was also included in it.

Still working on old equipment

You can estimate its condition from the fact that signals, communication and other necessary equipment related to the station have not been changed at this station. Even today everything here is running with old equipment only. Hand gears are still used here for signals. The ticket counter here has also been closed. Now only goods trains wait for the signal here. These goods trains go to Bangladesh via Rohanpur.
