There are more than 50 tree shops at Karuvamod Chowk located on NH 107 in Chautham block of Khagaria. The business here goes for 30 crores. The history of Karuvamod Peda is more than 50 years. Shankar Saav Namak, a resident of Pipra village, first started the business of Peda here. Gradually other people here also adopted this business as employment. It is a isolated area, so most of the people here do farming and animal husbandry. That’s why milk becomes available in abundance here. From which pure khova peda is prepared. 200- 300 rupees per kg is sold. The tree here goes to Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand and Assam.
Annual turnover is in crores
Peda seller Sadanand Saw said that the tree of Karuvamod is not only famous in Bihar, but the tree here is also sent to other states including Jharkhand, Bengal. Apart from this, passers-by from other districts especially stop here and buy peda. It is said that a peda trader earns a profit of up to Rs 5 lakh annually. According to this, there is a turnover of 30 crores annually in the entire Karuvamod.
Peda is made of more than 500 liters of milk every day.
Many shopkeepers told that more than 500 liters of milk is consumed every day. Milk reaches here from Chautham, Mansi, Beldaur, Gogri, Alauli, Samastipur, Darbhanga. More than 500 liters of milk per day is made in Khagaria. The peda here is available for Rs 200 to 300 per kg. If you are a sugar patient then sugar free peda is also available.
