People cannot find a place to live in poverty. In cities, some poor people are found living on footpaths, some under bridges and some near drains. But, in a unique case in Michigan, America, a woman was found living inside a sign board on the roof of a roadside shop. The surprising thing was that the woman had been living there for a year and no one even came to know about it.

Police say a woman spent nearly a year living inside the roof of a grocery store in Midland, Michigan. Brennan Warren, public relations officer for the Midland Police Department, told Business Insider that the woman was discovered by contractors on April 23 after an extension cord was found on her ceiling.

The Midland Daily News first reported the woman’s finding. Warren confirmed that the woman was 34 years old and had a job. The woman had decorated the place with a mini desk, flooring, pantry and houseplants, he said. According to ABC News, Warren said the woman also had a Keurig coffee maker, a printer and a computer.

It was told that the woman was homeless but employed but it is not clear how the woman reached the roof. And after removing it, where is she living now? It was said that once on the roof, she could enter inside the signboard using the 3’x4′ entrance.

He said the woman had declined an offer of contact information for housing assistance in the area and police did not know where she was living after leaving the roof. The woman was not formally charged, he said. Warren said police had given him the nickname “Rooftop Ninja.” He said, “I have never seen anything like this before in my career.” Very little information has been given about the woman, including why she started living on the rooftop.
