But man made this dream come true with the help of his intelligence and science and made an aeroplane. Do you know when the common people traveled in the airplane for the first time? Today in this article we will tell you about the first passenger plane. Will also know who was the pilot flying the plane and how much fare people had to pay to travel in it.
About 109 years ago, on January 1, 1914, the world’s first passenger plane took off. This flight was made between two cities St. Petersburg and Tampa in Florida, USA. By the way, the distance between these two cities by road is about 42 kilometers. But this aircraft had covered only about 34 kilometers of air travel. Which was decided by this aircraft in 23 minutes.
This plane was a flying boat
You may be surprised to know that the passengers flew in a flying boat for the first time. This flying boat aircraft was sent to St. Petersburg by way of train. The weight of the flying boat aircraft was about 567 kg. Its length was 8 meters and width was 13 meters. It only had seating for the pilot and one passenger. For which wooden seats were installed in it.
about the first flight
The name of the pilot who flew it was Tony Jannus. On the first day of the year 1914 i.e. on January 1, for the first time a passenger plane was about to fly. The ticket for this plane was auctioned because the plane had a seat for only one passenger. About three thousand people came to the waterfront of St. Petersburg where the ticket auction was to be held. This ticket was bought by a person named Feel. Feel was in a warehouse business. This was the world’s first air ticket and it was auctioned for $400. According to today’s time, it is more than $ 8,500 i.e. about Rs 6,02,129.
There was a fault in the plane on the way
This plane flew over the water. Janus did not take the aircraft more than 50 feet above the surface of the water. But midway through, one of the plane’s engines failed and it almost reached the surface of the bay, when Janus used his skills. Corrected some things while doing and started flying again. When the plane landed in Tampa, more than 3,500 people greeted Janus and Phil, clapping and celebrating.
