Scientists keep finding remains of ancient creatures at many places in the world. This time scientists have found something even more important. Just two hours away from New York, one of the world’s most prominent cities, an entire forest has been found, which had disappeared millions of years ago. Scientists have confirmed that this is the oldest forest ever seen in the world.
This forest was also not discovered in a very surprising or unique way. It was discovered in 2009 in open-pit mines in the Catskill Mountains near the city of Cairo. After its discovery, experts were trying to find out the exact age of the trees and plants in this area.
The rocks here are said to be 385 million years old. There is a treasure of fossils in a large space below them. That means it was suppressed for millions of years. BBC says that these are such forests, some of which may have even been seen by dinosaurs. Researchers from Cardiff University of Wales and SUNY Binghamton are very excited about these.

This forest is only two hours away from the George Washington Bridge in New York and at one time it was spread over an area of about 250 miles. At present, work is being done on a very small area in this area, which is half of a football field.
