As the Lok Sabha elections are coming closer, arrows of words are being fired from every quiver of political parties. But the people of Delhi are not able to hear that mesmerizing melodious voice for which the people of Delhi were crazy. There are no leaders who can explain the mathematics of figures in a measured manner.
In fact, in the last Lok Sabha elections, political maneuvers of Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit and Arun Jaitley were seen a lot. Sheila Dikshit herself had contested the elections from North-East Delhi. Similarly, Sushma Swaraj also used to scour the streets of Delhi for BJP candidates. As a star campaigner, she used to captivate the public with her melodious speeches in Lok Sabha or Assembly elections. Arun Jaitley never contested elections from Delhi, but he used to explain the mathematics of statistics to the BJP candidates. He also played a major role in the selection of candidates.
The election campaign committee also handed over the command of campaign in Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies. The dominance of these leaders was not in any one class, but in every class. This time, the absence of these stalwarts who served all sections of the society will be felt. Apart from the Punjabi community, Jaitley had influence among many classes of people including businessmen, lawyers, CAs. Sushma Swaraj, a native of Haryana, was the sister of entire Delhi. The Punjabi class used to unite on the voice of late Delhi Chief Minister Madanlal Khurana and the rural population on the voice of Sahib Singh Verma. After the demise of Sheila Dikshit, there is no leader of her stature left in the Congress party, who has credibility among the Punjabis.
