In the first type of forehead thermometer, temperature is measured through infrared light by placing it on the temporal artery. The second type has a plastic strip, by placing it on the forehead fever can be detected. It only tells whether someone’s temperature is high or low.
Rectal thermometer is used in the rectum. Although this is not the easiest or most comfortable way to measure temperature, it gives a very accurate reading. To take accurate temperature using this method, apply petroleum jelly on the tip of the thermometer and insert it into the rectum about half an inch.
