These laddus are very special, people of the same family make them, 50 kg are sold in a day


Rajat Bhatt/Gorakhpur: You will find many varieties of delicious and tasty food in Gorakhpur. There is a queue of people to eat it. But there are some things which are available only in season. People also eat it a lot. Before Makar Sankranti, in this season people start liking three types of laddus very much. Their demand also increases in the markets. There are many artisans to prepare these laddus. There is a family which has been preparing this laddu for the last 40 years. This is their family work, this laddu is specially prepared from sesame seeds and ramdana.

Khichdi season occurs in the month of January every year. These special types of laddus are prepared in these seasons. These laddus are made at many places. But there are some families for whom this is their family business. These are mostly prepared at the Nakhas of Gorakhpur. After reaching Nakhas, we met Ajay Gupta. He told that this is his family work and its season comes only for one month in a year. Only then is it prepared. It is specially prepared with bhuja and jaggery. There are three varieties in it which include Ramdana and sesame. It is prepared by Ajay’s family members only. About 50 kg laddus are prepared every day. He sells it in the market. After doing business worth lakhs in a season, these people again start running their shops and houses in other ways.

Laddu is very special
After reaching Nakhas Chowk of the city, the scene at Ajay’s house was such that Bheli Pagh was ready in a sack of more than 100 pounds and in a big vessel. The people of the house would make laddus and on the other hand something else would be packed. Ajay tells that sesame laddu is very special among laddus. It is beneficial for health and is in high demand. It takes more effort to make it. It has to be prepared as early as 3 in the morning. Because it is so hot, if it is not prepared in the morning then there is a slight reduction in it. After preparing 50 kg every day, it is sold in the market. Where the price of a packet of Bhuja is Rs 30. Whereas sesame seeds are priced at Rs 50 and Ramdana is priced at Rs 60.
