this banned gadget in india could land you in jail beware if you using it

Banned Gadget In India: Some people are fond of keeping gadgets. This makes their life and daily tasks easier. However, there is also a gadget which, instead of making your life easier, can land you in jail. Same thing happened with Czech Republic citizen Martin Polesny, when he was arrested at Manohar International Airport in Mopa, North Goa. Actually, he had a GPS device with a satellite transmitter attached to it. After this the police detained him.

Why was the arrest made?

Martin was going from Goa to Doha on an afternoon flight on 9 December. Meanwhile, while checking his luggage, the security personnel found a gadget named Garmin Edge 540 with him. It is a GPS-enabled cyclocomputer, which measures speed, distance and other things. A satellite transmitter was also installed in it, but according to Indian law, it is prohibited to keep any satellite transmitter or phone without a license. After this, the police detained Martin for possessing prohibited items.
The Foreign Ministry of the Czech Republic also reacted to the arrest and said that traveling with satellite phones is not allowed in India.

Why is it prohibited in India?

Let us tell you that under the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933, common people of India cannot keep or use satellite phones. This may pose a threat to national security. Therefore there is a ban on its possession.
A Goa Police official said that the accused did not have any kind of permission or license for the gadget. Therefore, a case has been registered against him under the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933.
It is noteworthy that Garmin Edge 540 cyclocomputer is available for sale in India, but it does not have the feature of satellite transmitter.
