BRICS Summit 2024 There is a lot of discussion in the world these days. PM Modi has also reached Kazan city of Russia to participate in the event. If seen, in today’s environment Russia is a friendly country of India. But, India-Russia friendship is not new. A big proof of this can be seen even today in a city of Jharkhand. There is a statue installed in this city, which is a replica of the historical statue from the time of Berlin war. Now the question arises that why was this statue installed here? So know…
Bokaro city of Jharkhand is famous as Steel City. Historians say that Russia has a huge contribution in establishing the steel city in Bokaro. There is also a Russian club in Sector 4 of Bokaro. An ancient statue here is also a witness to the history of Bokaro Steel Plant and the deep diplomatic relations between India and Russia. This statue is of Russian soldier Nikolai Maslov, who bravely defeated the enemies in the final battle of Berlin during World War II and saved the life of an innocent German girl.
That statue is still in Russia today
The historian said, inspired by that war incident, the famous Russian sculptor Evgeny Vuchetich had created a statue in Berlin’s Strepto Park in 1946. This statue depicts a Soviet soldier cutting a Nazi swastika with a sword in one hand and supporting a little girl with the other. Even today that statue is installed in Berlin. A replica of the same statue was installed here in Bokaro, so that the memories of Russia-India relations always remain fresh.
Symbol of India-Russia relations
Dr. Jeet Pandey, a renowned historian of Bokaro and member of the Indian Sociological Society, told Local 18 that this statue is not just a piece of sculpture, but it is also a symbol of the strong diplomatic and economic relations of that time between India and Russia. The Soviet Union had an important contribution in the establishment of Bokaro Steel Plant and this statue reminds of the days when relations between the two countries were very strong.
500 Russian experts came
Further told, this statue located in Russian Club located in Sector 4 of Bokaro is an exact copy of the statue of Strepto Park. It was established in 1974, when the Bokaro Steel Plant was built with the cooperation of the Soviet Union. During the construction of the steel plant, about 500 Russian experts and their families lived in the Russian Colony of Bokaro till 1984. The Russian Club was established here for them. Which had all the facilities for entertainment and sports. The club also had an air-conditioned theater where Russian films were shown.
Great importance of this statue
At the same time, the Russian soldier holding a sword in the statue, who supports the innocent girl, shows the importance of struggle and humanity. Beneath his feet is a broken Nazi swastika symbolizing the bitter memories of World War II. It tells how the brave Russian soldier defeated the German army and how the spirit of humanity and cooperation can survive even in the midst of war. Even today this statue is known as the heritage of Bokaro and it makes us understand the importance of humanity, courage and cooperation even in times of struggle and war.
