The mansion featured in the iconic children’s film and its sequel, Lost in New York, is still remembered by many. But when people saw the inside of the mansion, they were disappointed to find that it was not like the one shown in the movie.
In both these films, a kid named Macaulay Culkin played the role of Kevin McCallister, who encounters thieves while spending time alone at home during the holidays. The events that happen during this time are hilarious where Kevin teases the thieves by playing pranks on them from every corner of the house.
In both the films, this house also leaves a different mark. So when the news of its sale came, it was obviously no less than a curiosity for those who saw Kevin doing mischief in childhood. Now this mansion is for sale for the first time at a huge price of 5.45 million dollars (45 crores 44 lakh rupees). Still many people were disappointed with this news.

Many were shocked to see that the inside of the house was completely different from the maze that viewers have come to love over the years. One social media user commented, “What did they do to it?”
Interestingly, people quickly realized that the real house was never used for any of the indoor scenes, and only the exterior was filmed. “It was a set,” wrote one. “The entire interior of the house was a set.”
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion in Winnetka, Illinois, has undergone a number of changes since it appeared in the films. US real estate firm The Don McKenna Group has described the property as one of the world’s most famous homes.
