Only then could the family members from abroad receive the mortal remains. But now there will be no need for long process and much wandering for this. Because the government has now started providing new facilities for this work. In August last year, the Government of India launched the Open E-Care Platform.

Due to which now if any Indian citizen dies abroad. So the Indian government will help in bringing back his mortal remains. For this, a nodal office has also been created at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. If anyone wants to bring the mortal remains of his family member from abroad to India, he will have to apply in writing. The nodal officer will investigate it and take action within 48 hours. The status of your application can be checked on the e-care portal through the registered mobile number.

It is necessary to have these documents

To bring someone’s mortal remains from abroad to India, the family members will have to show the necessary documents at the nodal office. In which the death certificate of the person concerned i.e. death certificate. Along with this, the certificate of the chemicals applied on his body to keep it safe. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the person has died. And finally the canceled passport of the person whose mortal remains is being brought.
