Everything in the world has a price. Some have less, some have more. People find out the value of things from their price. But there are many such things which seem minor in appearance but the price is so high that whoever hears about them gets stunned. Now you take only one postage stamp. This red colored ticket looks like an ordinary postage stamp (Most expensive postage stamp of the world) but when you know its value, you will be shocked.

According to the report of Audity Central News website, the stamp named ‘The British Guiana One-Cent Black on Magenta’ is the world’s most expensive stamp (World’s Most Expensive Object by Weight). But not only the most expensive stamp, according to its weight, it is also the most expensive thing in the world. For comparison, tell that the weight of this ticket is 40 milligrams and the price is more than 70 crores! On the other hand, a 0.2 carat diamond, which weighs only 40 milligrams, costs 58 thousand rupees. At the same time, the cost of 40 mg LSD is around 4 lakh rupees.

Stamp is the only one of its kind
From these figures, you must have understood why this stamp is the most expensive thing in the world according to its weight! Now the question arises that why is this stamp so expensive? Its price is so high because it is the only stamp of its kind, which has no copy, it is the only one. On the other hand, many copies of the stamps which are collected by stamp collectors around the world are available.

How did the stamp become so famous?
According to the report, in the year 1856, the local news office of British Guiana printed several pieces of paper on which there was a picture of a ship with a mast on it. The motto of the British colony was also written on it – ‘We give and expect to get in return’. These stamps were printed in lieu of some stamps which were declared invalid by the postmaster. These newly printed stamps were made just to run the job. These stamps were withdrawn from circulation as soon as a new batch of original stamps was printed. Some 17 years later, in 1873, a 12-year-old boy found the same stamp in a letter from his uncle, which he sold to a local stamp collector. After 150 years, in today’s time, that one stamp has become the most valuable stamp in the world. Till June 2021, this stamp has been with 9 people but now it has been bought by a company named Stanley Gibbons. The company started selling stamps in the form of shares and till now 80 thousand pieces ie 80 thousand shares have been sold.
